I just dont understand when people say Hotch and Beth feel forced and rushed. She got up the courage to ask him on a bike ride after watching him train for a while as she did the same. He trained for nearly three months with her, and had a few lunches, before he got the courage to ask her out on a first date. They had their first date on Valentine’s Day. By that May, when they’d known each other for seven months she was spending time with him and his son. By the time they’d been together for a year it was established they were in a committed relationship that included sex and Hotch willing to make a serious go at long distance when Beth was offered a new job in another city. Where is the forced and rushed part?
I know many fans ship Hotch with a member of the team and feel like Beth is an interloper/stalker/insert ridiculous title here. I think its a silly reason to hate a character but what the hell, I cant stop that kind of thing from happening. But nothing about the relationship seemed forced or rushed to me. If anything, I wanted to see more of it even though I knew it wasnt probable. It was so fun to watch Hotch become Aaron again and have more to life than the BAU and single fatherhood (with all the grief and guilt he carries attached to that).
