Can someone explain to me why this actress, Analeigh Timpton, is playing the role of Nora in Warm Bodies?

I’m reading the book now and Nora is said to have “thick black curls”, “long brown legs”, “her eyes are earth brown”, “her skin is creamy coffee” and her dad is Ethiopian.

Of course.

Deeply disappointing and utterly unsurprising. This is what we mean when we talk about Hollywood whitewashing.

What the actual fuck? This is getting ridiculous. How can writers let their work be abused like that? If they’re writing characters of color than they should be fighting for actors of color to get these roles when they inevitably sell the movie rights. Letting things like this happen is not OK.
