I didn’t think people like this actually existed

Here we see the Greater Douchebag in one of their natural habitats. Like many poisonous animals, the bright colors are a warning to stay away.

The racist response to the Spelling Bee is further proof America isn’t ready to talk about minority success

On May 29, they became co-champions of an especially hard-fought Scripps National Spelling Bee.

In the past few years, the 89-year-old competition has seen a striking pattern in which Indian-American contestants have lifted the winner’s trophy eight consecutive times and in 13 of the past 17 outings. Their streak feeds into years of conversation around race, achievement and immigrant success — all tied to problematic notions of what it means to be “American.”

Here’s to another season of sassy Rossi one-liners.

Enjoy.

Q: In that vein, while there’s a lot of diversity shown in the animal kingdom, there’s no racial diversity in the cast. Can you speak to that?

A: From the beginning, we were concerned about casting, the issue of race. What we realized is that this story is functioning at the level of myth, and as a mythical story, the race of the individuals doesn’t matter. They’re supposed to be stand-ins for all people. Either you end up with a Bennetton ad or the crew of the Starship Enterprise. You either try to put everything in there, which just calls attention to it, or you just say, “Let’s make that not a factor, because we’re trying to deal with everyman.” Looking at this story through that kind of lens is the same as saying, “Would the ark float and is it big enough to get all the species in there?” That’s irrelevant to the questions because the questions are operating on a different plane than that; they’re operating on the mythical plane.

So I’m sure a lot of you have heard about the ridiculous ‘artistic event’ that some are calling a ‘feminist gathering’ being held at a plantation, hosted by Ani DiFranco. Well shits hitting the fan on the Facebook page after some woman kept dismissing the critiques of black women about the insensitivity and thoughtlessness of the location. This person then made a fake account impersonating a black woman. Below are screen shots of the wreck.

This is how far white women are willing to go to silence black women.
this shit is so sad its almost funny.

Here is a link to the page if you want to let Ani and the organizers of this event how fucked up all this is.

WOW.
WOW.

"Sometimes I get so sick and tired of the Social Justice police trying to decide for me that I’m inherently racist. If only they knew my story, they’d understand that I have no room in my life to fight that battle amongst the trillions of other things going on. I wish people could stop being so assumptuous."

CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THIS WOMAN I HAVENT LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY LIFE I DONT KNOW IF IM ANGRY OR ELATED AT SUCH AN ENTERTAINING TRAINWRECK

Does anyone else remember that Hotch and Haley were divorced for 2 years before she was murdered and that she walked out on him while he was out in the field and took his child and he came home in the middle of the night to an empty house and then she sent him papers for an uncontested divorce, which is hella insane with how long they’d been married, the assets and property accumulated, and the human they shared?  I’m not saying it was all her fault and not his, he damn sure needs to take some of the blame for the demise of their marriage, but the writers treating them like the greatest love story ever all after the fact is nausea-inducing to me.

"A pleasant place to live", "a great place to raise a family", "an All-American town" = no minorities to speak of.  This is what I find when I usually watch investigation shows and documentaries.

I’m dismayed that the words “baby bump” havent been burned in the fire yet.
