I am tired of seeing “(platonic) love.”
Most of the world’s love is nonromantic. How many people do you love? How many people love you? Now how much of that love has anything to do with dating or marriage?
We create these wonderful, cherished networks of love — with family, with friends, with communities. And then we kick them into the dirt. We trivialize them every time we imply that love is what happens at a wedding and everything else needs a qualifier.
Shed the qualifier. Make romantic love the exception. Think about the love you experience every day for so many of the people around you, and center it. Take back the word love.
